Finding work in central or northern Italy

Finding work in central or northern Italy?
I moved to Naples, Italy in Sept. of 2005. I have been teaching English at a school since then, but the school does not offer help in obtaining a work visa. The school year will be over in the beginning of June, and I am now searching for summer time work and also work for the fall. I would like to head to central or northern Italy as Naples has not been my cup of tea. Before moving to Italy, I worked for Intel Corporation for 10 years. I don't expect to be able to get a job with a major company, however, since I don't know the Italian language very well yet. (sigh) So, until then, I'm searching for any summer time work and probably teaching work in the fall. If you have any ideas, I would so appreciate your reply. Thanks!

Welcome to hell... I just moved from Italy. What you need is a Permisso Di Sogerno (not spelled right) but there you go. This allows you to live and work in Italy. Without it you're totally screwed unless you work a black market job which is what your english teaching job sounds like. Also, thoughout Italy there's not much of a drive for English lessons, especially in the north where the market is flooded. The permisso is the golden ticket. There are two ways to get one. A company applies for a work visa for you, or you get married. I married an Italian and lived near Torino and got a visa in time to work on the Winter Olympics. But it's difficult. My friend Nataly has been in Italy longer then I have on a touristic visa. You can apply for a student visa which I think has a limmitted work permission, but you have to leave the country and go to the U.S. to do it. If you want more help, e-mail me at lucky7tjw@yahoo.com We might be able to stir up something for you. At least some english tutoring contacts. :) Good luck!
