Do you mean a voltage converter (not needed, all Europe works on 220/230 V) or a plug converter? Look here for a guide http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Domestic_AC_power_plugs_and_sockets Which one do you have yet? If with "continental" you mean Type C, it will work for Italian plugs; if instead it's a Schuko (German) adapter, Schuko-to-Italian plug adapters are easy to find everywhere, in Italy.

The electricity in Italy is 220 volts, 50 cycles, as in the rest of Europe, so no "power adapter" is needed. What is different is the shape of the plug for the socket. All major airports have shops with the proper plug sets for any country.
