iPhone will work in Italy... the free stuff will no longer be free... internet, ect. Calls will cost about $1.30US per minute unless you signed up for the World plan where calls will run you $0.99US per minute... goodluck...
2 :
They both run on the EDGE and the GSM networks so they have a good chance of working in other countries
3 :
Yes, there should be voice GSM networks throughout Europe. Data may be a little more sparse, as you will need GPRS or EDGE service. To make voice calls, you may need to contact AT&T to activate international roaming.

What are the posibilities of me finding a job in Italy if I move there after completing a program here in tourism.I speak Italian and i will have to contact the italian embassy here, but I do not want to get there and discover tourism jobs are not in demand and or/they will likely hire native italians.I speak French English and Italian

As you are not a part of the European Union, the chances of finding legal work are rather slim.Italy tends to hire Italians for the tourist industry. The best you will find is teaching English for a miserable wage.Try contacting the Italian Embassy and asking for any companies who are searching for translators.
3 :
Nobody can answer this to you because saying "Italy" is like saying "America" or "Canada." There are too many variables in place in regards to the location, what companies are hiring at the time and other things of such. There is also the fact of how much education you have, how much you want to earn, where have you worked, etc. I suggest that you become much more specific and do research through real means. Yahoo answers is not the place.
4 :
people often end up doing jobs different to the one they imagined. You should think of other jobs you would be prepared to do if you cant do tourism, and furthermore , whether you really want to go to italy...It's a long way to go for a career 'move' especially if you entering at what i assume will be entry level position..Your languages will help you but they demand bilingual or trilingual for many jobs nowadays in europe good luck
5 :
I think you should contact the Canadian embassy in Italy.

There are a lot of job websites on the internet that purport to help you find work here in Italy. I would be careful of relying to heavily on some of them. The ones listed by offibc are the most likely to be useful. However, you need to know that unless you are an EU citizen, it is illegal to work here without a visa that specifically allows it - that would limit the jobs that are available to you since EU rules require that companies demonstrate that there are no viable EU candidates for a position before they can get a work permit for a non-EU citizen..

Best restaurant in Italy??? Any City is Fine! Is it hard for an American to find work in Italy?
Other - Italy - 4 Answers

1 :
It isn't hard, provided you speak at least some (conversational) Italian, but you will need a "Permesso di Sogiorno" (Persmission to Live) (The Italian version of a Green Card) to work legally in Italy.
2 :
Unemployment in Italy is very high plus the low wages. I can't see any reason why you would want to especially with such high taxes there..
3 :
There are so many good restaurants it is hard to know where to start with that one. As for working, my experience is that it is very difficult. The permesso di soggiorno is only for the right to stay more than 3 months, it does not allow you to legally work- you need a work visa for that. Also, they don't just hand out permessos, there is a lengthy application process (I am working on getting mine now, am into week 4 and have visited the office at least 5 times, still have not even had the application put into the computer). Unemployment is high in Italy, in fact Italian citizens are legally only allowed to hold one job. In order for a foreigner to be hired the company must prove that this person has qualifications that are not found within the collection of potential Italian hires. I think it is much easier if you are already a citizen of an EU country, but if you are American like me, or from outside Europe it is an uphill battle. Not impossible, but be prepared for a tough go of it. Now living here on the other hand, is wonderful. It's just the finding a job part that is tough. Good luck.
4 :
Well, to answer the first part of your question: I guess you mean the best gourmet restaurants of Italy. You can find a list on this page: http://www.yourguidetoitaly.com/best-gourmet-restaurants-of-italy.html It gives a list of the best restaurants of Italy, with their address and telephone number and the type of cuisine they serve.

if u r eu citizen u can work everywhere in eu. European Union citizens (cittadini comunitari) may enter Italy with a national identity card or valid passport. EU nationals who move to Italy to live, work or study for longer than three months have the right to residency and may apply for a permanent residence card, the Carta di Soggiorno Cittadini U.E. from their commune. This card will be necessary for several important transactions such as buying a car in Italy. The family members (spouse, children, parents and dependents) of an EU citizen in employment in Italy are automatically entitled to residency. Non-working EU citizens and their family are entitled to residence cards if they register with the national health service or have independent health insurance and can show sufficient economic resources. EU citizens applications The following documents are required when applying for a residence card: valid passport date of arrival in Italy and reason for stay details of spouse and dependant family members if residence cards is needed for them People in employment need also supply: Employee: declaration from the employer or a copy of the job contract Self-employed person: authorisation from the Chamber of Commerce Four recent, passport photographs Further documentation may be required for students. The Carta di Soggiorno is issued by the Commune of residence.
2 :
No, any citizen of the EEC can work legally in any other member country without the need for a visa. You may need to file residency paperwork if you plan to stay longer than a couple of months to receive health care etc. You really should check with the Italian embassy / consulate to make sure.

Switching work visas from Italy to Germany

Switching work visas from Italy to Germany?
I am an American with a work visa in education set up for Italy however I have good reason to stay in Germany so my question is is it easily possible to switch the country or do I go through the same long process all over again as I had for Italy???? Thank you all in advance for your in put and help.
Immigration - 2 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
You cannot "switch" visas between countries. You have to go through the whole process again for Germany and hope to get a visa approved. Your status in Italy means nothing to Germany
2 :
You will need to go through a similar process for Germany again. Europe has open borders and 25 countries issue common short term visa valid for up to 90 days. The issuance of a national visa however is subject to the individual immigration law of the respective country. To apply for a residence permit in Germany (U.S. citizen can do that after arrival in Germany) you will need to have a work contract. Your prospective employer can only instate a non-EU citizen for qualified or highly qualified employment if the Federal Employment Agency (Bundesagentur für Arbeit) has given their approval. To get approval it must be shown that the gap could not be filled by the local workforce and the workforce of the European Union, a very bureaucratic process. The application for a residence permit (Aufenthaltstitel) can be made at the Foreigners Office (Ausländerbehörde) which covers your place of residence in Germany. Each bigger town has its own foreigners office. If you reside in a small village or rural community the office will in general be at the district administration office (Kreisverwaltung) of the county. In order to apply for a residence permit you must be able to show that you are registered at the local residents' registration office (Einwohnermeldeamt). 2 :
Italian cuisine is strongly related to each region/area, so in each region you can find more specific traditional dishes. So, there actually isn't one particular region that can be considered better for mastering Italian cuisine.
3 :
try Sicily, my grandmother was from there and made great Italian food.
4 :
Pinguino is right; cooking is regional here in Italy. You can specialize in one region, but it might be a good idea to move around to various regions to get a solid overview of the different cuisines here. Where I live in Emilia Romagna, the food is excellent, but that's also true of the other regions.

it depends mostly from country to country due to the large instream of illegal aliens over the last decades many countries have become very strict on their restrictions to work there. But then again there are many countries that have a serious deficit in able workers. so for certain jobs you can get a work permit easy. let me know what you do and I can check if there's something you can apply for(I work for monster you know). the procedure most European countries apply, is pretty similar to the American system. An employer must be able to prove that for some reason it is necessary to hire you, and not an Eu citizen for a certain job. I must add that the Italian are usually a lot less strict than the northern countries, but I think the same general rule applies. as for working for a us embassy be prepared to have a security check as long as the chinese wall done, a friend of mine applied there once and short of a rectal exam they checked him top to bottom.

The normal work visas are a long process. You can check visa requirements at the Italian Ministry website: http://www.esteri.it/visti/home_eng.asp. In general in Europe, and in particular here in Italy, you have to have a job lined up in order to get a work visa before you move here from the US, Canada, Australia, or other non-EU country. You can only stay for 90 days without some type of visa (work, student, ...). You cannot apply for the visa while you're here and you'll need the proper paperwork from the company. However, you could come over as a tourist for up to 90 days without a visa and look for work. Then you'd have to go back to the US or where ever and wait for the paperwork for a visa to be processed. If you're coming from the US, you'll also have to have skills that can't easily be duplicated here. That will mean a degree in a marketable field. There are lots of different kinds of permessos though - for work as a dependent of a company, self employment, seasonal work, or working vacation. http://www.esteri.it/visti/index_eng.asp. People from the EU have the right to move and work freely within the EU, so they will have priority for jobs. A good strating point for planning this type of move is to do some research on the expat websites for the countries you're interested in. Since you're already an expat in Australia, you may be familiar with this type of site. These are sites for expats in Italy with general info on living and working here: http://www.us-expatriate-handbook.com/ http://www.expatsinitaly.com/ http://www.transitionsabroad.com/listing... http://www.jobonline.it/ http://italy.jobs.com/ There are similar sites for other countries - just search for the name of the country and "expat". a few examples: http://www.expats.cz/ http://www.expatica.com/nl/main.html http://www.expats.org.uk/countryinfo/fra... http://www.expatexchange.com/net.cfm?net... http://www.spainexpat.com/ http://www.expatica.com/ http://www.escapeartist.com/ The trick is finding a job that pays enough that you can support yourself. I was fortunate enough to move here through my existing job. There are not a huge number of available jobs right now, and people from the EU will have preference. I already had a job here and the paperwork took 8 months. As an American expat, you'll have to file tax returns both here and in the US. You should also be aware that it's more expensive to live here than in the US. For example, gas is roughly equivalent to $10 per gallon now.

The computers, as well as Laptop support volatage from 110 - 250 V so only thing that you will need is the switch so that you will be able to plug you laptop into the electricity network so you will be able to charge it. BTW in europe the standard for most countries is 220, so you do not have to worry about anything getting messed up.
2 :
hi,, good day well from what you are telling about the difference of voltage ,, well yes you have to buy a voltage converter,, they offer those at any electronic store like Fry's electronics or walmart or look in the yahoo search.. oh 1 more thing if you get to work in Italy email me yea so i can know if you got it work..good luck check the 1s link they offer more electronics then any other store
3 :
If the range of voltage acceptable to your laptop is shown as 110 - 230V, all you'll need is a plug converter, that'll allow you to plug the American style plug in the European one. They use 2 round pins, not flat ones like we do.
4 :
You will need a US to European adapter ....as the plugs are different . Its sometimes also called Universal Adapter/Convertor .... There is no Electronics in it ...its just a connector which has a US socket on one side (where ur US pins go in) and has various diff plugs on the other side ...so that u can choose what to use. U just need the right adapter as the power plugs are different in Italy. Its simple and effeicent and a MUST HAVE if ur a Business Traveller. The most certain place to get it is on the Flight or in travel stores on the Airports in US or Italy. The charger for ur laptop will handle the voltage automatically. U can also find these adapters online or in large Electronic stores ....its better coz the ones on the flight are costly.
5 :
Check your laptop rating plate - for input voltage rating if its 110V / 60Hz then you will need another adapter to connect that will step down (convert) 240V input in Europe to 110 volts where you can connect the power plug of laptop. EURO Power outlet (240V) = > Adapter => (110V) => Laptop Just ensure that there is no switch to change the voltage setting on laptop. Please refer the laptop manual for clear instructions. In case you do not have one, visit the manufacturer website and download one related to your laptop model and go through it rather than blowing up the laptop due to negligence. If you are not sure consult a technician.

Hi there, I think it's also wise to prepare yourself mentally for the fact that these are typically jobs that are quite low paid. Particularly in a winery, if you are not managing or directing the place, you will be considered an unskilled laborer. These jobs are often filled by immigrant or migrant workers and can pay as little as 700 Euro per month, which in Italy won't get you far. Restaurants are usually not much better. Servers do not get tipped more than a few euro, and the salary is normally anywhere from 800 Euro to 1500, depending on the restaurant. I would expect the higher end only at a fine restaurant and after several years of service. I don't mean to discourage you, as Italy is a wonderful country and certainly will bring you lots of new experiences, but it is important to have realistic expectations before you arrive. Good luck!

2 :
The type of phone you have doesn't matter. Its the provider in which you have service with. You will have to find out what their international rates are which by the way can be very expensive. You may have unlimited text right now, but if you leave the country you may be charged so much per message. You just need to find out what their rates are! Have fun!
